It has been over 30 years since the massacre at Polytechnique Montréal (December 6, 1989). This act of violent misogyny shook our country and led Parliament to designate December 6 as The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

This joint study by our own Social Research & Planning Council and the University of Guelph aims to collect data about local 2SLGBTQ+ experiences, and find opportunities to make services more available and equitable for everyone.

'And Sometimes They Kill You' Book Launch Event- Stratford Public Library
Book Launch Event- with Feminist Lawyer and IPV Expert Pamela Cross. “And Sometimes They Kill You” provides an in-depth look at intimate partner violence in Canada. Told in an engaging and accessible fashion, it weaves together Cross’s personal experiences and reflections with the powerful stories of victims, survivors, and the alarming but convincing data.
Hate Crime Information Session
Perth County OPP and Avon Maitland District School Board have partnered to present a Hate Crime Information Session. Doors will open at 5:30 pm and the event will begin at 6:00 pm. Registration to attend can be completed here. The event includes two guest speakers as well as community leaders.
Restorative Justice Event with Marlee Lis
Join STOP VAW for a free evening with Marlee Lis - the subject of the first North American restorative justice court approach. Marlee will discuss openly and educationally about this approach as an alternative to traditional justice avenues. This event will discuss sexual violence, court processes, and trauma which may be triggering to some guests. Participants are encouraged to use available supports if required and consider the content before choosing to attend.
Queer Art Coffeehouse

(2) Help fund future GRC program as there is a urgent need in the community for Queer youth to have a place of belonging.
(3) Ensure that Queer youth in community see, have positive role models and meet local Queer adults
Recruitment: Sexual Violence Advisory Group
The Survivor Advisory Group plays a vital role in guiding the Rural Sexual Violence Response Framework to improve services and supports for survivors of sexual violence in Huron and Perth. This framework will be informed by the lived experiences and perspectives of survivors, and we believe that their input is essential in shaping the programs, services, and advocacy efforts in our communities. Your support in reaching out to potential candidates will help us ensure that our Survivor Advisory Group is representative of diverse experiences and perspectives.
